Over the months of quarantine, when I found myself at home, searching for new ways to be creative, I challenged myself to find other artists that inspire me. One of my favorite artists that I rediscovered was the work of Andrew Ling (www.instagram.com/andrewling/). I then decided to work on a project imitating some of Andrew's work. Without the ability to travel and take new photos, this project pushed me to search through 1000s of previous photos to find ones that I could use for this project. I hope you enjoy viewing this project and the attached references of Andrew's work.
Andrew's work features an intense focus on the complexity of colors and how they tie together to form memories in our minds. In this project, I desired to highlight the colors off different memories for the palette photos, whether it be the bright blue of Lake Bled, or the sunset over Edinburgh. In the text photos, I followed Andrew's unique style of using Neon style text to tie in nature and society. I used many lyrics from Frank Oceans various projects, drawing again on memories that made me the person I am today.
For one of my latest projects, I wanted to create a full 2lp Vinyl cover for myself, both to challenge my graphic design skills and my artistic vision.
